For these last two paintings I started experimenting with a different approach then I'm used to.

First after I transfered my sketches on to the board, I started to block in the basic values in black and white with acrylic paint. Next I went over the acrylic with color oil paint(mostly opaque color). blocking in mostly matching the values laid down in the acrylic underpainting. After that I just kept building,transitioning and detailing with more oil till I felt it was finished

bluegrass at Atlas Cafe and other stuff...

Every thursday night at atlas cafe is bluegrass night, tonight featured an awesome band called 49 Special. These are some sketches of the band and some bluegrass fans...

to be honest I didn't really know of bluegrass until I saw "O brother Where Art Thou" but I love it now. Probably the only country music I can get in to.
